Punjab Congress unit chief Partap Singh Bajwa today asked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal to clarify the party's ideology, saying the latter's partymen "belonged to extreme thoughts, in contradiction with each other".
Referring to the background of AAP's Talwandi Sabo candidate, Prof Baljinder Kaur, whose family, according to him, had been part of "a radical stream", Bajwa asked Kejriwal to explain whether his party believed in Gandhian values or "radical ideologies of various shades".
Kejriwal, who is visiting Talwandi Sabo tomorrow, must clarify ideological positioning of his party, a release quoting Bajwa said.
The Congress leader also slammed AAP for "facilitating" SAD victory indirectly by dividing the anti-incumbency votes.
Bajwa also observed despite the success of AAP in four Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, it had failed to create a momentum in its favour and the party became a victim of factionalism even before it could evolve any organisational structure.
Talwandi Sabo and Patiala (Urban) Assembly seats are going to by-polls on August 21.
The by-poll was necessitated after Amarinder Singh, Congress MLA from Patiala (urban) got elected to Lok Sabha from Amritsar, and another Congress MLA from Talwandi Sabo, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu deserted the party to join ruling SAD.
