Shares of Claris Lifesciences slumped more than 6 per cent today following reports that Income-Tax sleuths have conducted search and survey operations at around 20 commercial and residential premises of the company, its promoters and four sister companies in Gujarat.
The stock plunged 6.17 per cent to settle at Rs 223.70 on BSE. Intra-day, it tumbled 9.81 per cent to Rs 215.
According to sources, residential apartments, offices and factory premises linked to the Ahmedabad-based pharma firm were searched across the state.
The operations were a result of an internal probe by I-T Department, where evidences related to tax evasion and suspected black money transaction were found against Claris promoters, sources added.
BSE had yesterday sought clarification from the company with respect to reports about I-T Department's search and survey at its premises.
Replying to the clarification sought by the exchange, the company today said ".... Search/survey has been carried out by the Income-Tax authorities on the company on August 4, 2015."
"We have extended full cooperation to the I-T authorities," the filing added.
