Nirmal Srivastava along with over 30 supporters today reached Bharat Milap crossing when MoS Vinod Kumar was on a visit to violence-hit areas. Srivastava allegedly misbehaved with Kumar and police had to step in.
The situation got out of control and Srivastava's men started pelting stones at security forces, police said.
Six persons, including Srivastava, were later arrested in connection with the incident.
Earlier, tension had erupted in the city on 23 September after members of two communities clashed during a religious procession.
