A group of people, including some women, assembled near Bachat Bhawan here and alleged that the girl's mother is involved in flesh trade and had earlier levelled false charges against a few others.
They also released a press statement on behalf of "all residents of the town" and made severe allegations against the family, but to their surprise the Class X girl arrived at the spot and challenged them to prove the charges made against her family in a bid to defame them.
The girl's mother complained that the SHO had called them to the police station last week and misbehaved with her daughter. SHO Gurmeet Singh has, however, refuted all allegations against him.
