Cleanliness drive in Assam public transport system

Assam state transport department has directed authorities to maintain cleanliness in all the public transport vehicles and bus stations keeping in with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's thrust on cleanliness.
The Managing Director of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has been directed by the Transport Commissioner to provide garbage collection bins in all buses operating under it, an official release said here today.
All District Transport Officers and Regional Transport Authorities have been directed to convince bus owners and mid-sized passenger carrying vehicles to provide garbage collection bins in vehicles.
The garbage collection bins should be disposed off at a predetermined disposal area and should be sanitised frequently.
Cleanliness of bus stations should also be given priority and sufficient number of garbage collection bins should be provided in bus station campuses.
The District Transport Officers and Regional Transport Authorities have also been directed to convene meeting with concerned bus associations, individual owners, representatives of ASTC and other passenger carrying vehicle associations and owners to ensure cleanliness in public transport system.
All stakeholders should be given time to complete the necessities within the month of February, 2015.
