Punjab IGP (NRI police wing) Gurpreet Kaur Deo issued directions regarding this to all commissioners and SSPs while presiding over a meeting here today to review the status of under-investigation cases of NRIs in the state, a spokesman said.
Currently, there are about 120 under-investigation cases related to NRIs in the state, Deo said.
The cases where the progress of investigation is not found satisfactory will be transferred to the NRI police stations.
The IGP said that she has asked DIG (NRI police wing) L K Yadav to hold a meeting with the Senior Superintendents of Police to dispose of under-investigation cases involving NRIs in a fixed time.

The IGP said that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has directed that no laxity will be tolerated at any level in dealing with the cases.
Deo said three more police stations are being notified to deal with NRI-related issues within a few days.
Three sub-divisional Deputy SPs designated as DSP (NRI) will monitor and investigate the disposal of NRI related cases and will be located at Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Moga, she said.
Sukhbir Singh Badal wants that the NRI police stations in the state shall have jurisdiction over all 27 police districts in the state, which shall be done shortly, she said.
