"The state government should make their stand clear and make a statement on the floor of the House regarding the recent judgment of the Supreme Court banning sale of liquor within 500 metres of state and national highways," Goa Congress Legislature Party spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco told reporters here.
A day-long Assembly session would be addressed by Governor Mridula Sinha.
"Either the state government or Governor herself should clear the stand on the issue of liquor sale near the highways. Several families are in distress after the SC ruling," Lourenco said.
The Goa excise department has already started the exercise to list liquor outlets which would be affected by the apex court order.
The department has decided not to renew their licences after March 31, 2017.
The liquor traders have said that they will wait for the formation of new government after the counting of votes on March 11.
