Closer linkages needed to address healthcare challenges: Nadda

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda today stressed on greater collaboration among government, industry and academics for finding solutions to healthcare challenges.
"While the government is taking steps to address these challenges, there is a strong need to address the challenges by way of collaboration with Industry and academic partners," Nadda said while inaugurating the H3C Health Conference here.
Though health is a state subject, Centre is closely involved by way of providing financial and technical support to states, besides policy inputs, he said.
Shortage of human resources - doctors, nurses and para-medicals is a major constraint in expanding holistic healthcare system, especially in rural areas, Nadda said.

The minister spoke of finding innovative and cost-effective solutions to various healthcare challenges in India and highlighted the need for innovations in medical devices, particularly the low end devices, which serve basic needs of health care in our country.
The new government at the Centre is committed to render affordable healthcare to all, an official release quoted Nadda as saying.

"The Prime Minister believes in outcomes, and therefore our government is driven by three principles of skill, scale, and speed," he said.
Skilling was a dynamic process and required continuous interactions to move forward, Nadda said.
He termed the recent collaboration of Ohio State University and AIIMS in the field of regenerative medicine as a step in the right direction.
