Cloth merchant shot dead in UP

A 25-year-old cloth merchant was today shot dead allegedly by an unidentified person while he was asleep in his house in Berhampur village of the district, police said.
The deceased, Ram Avatar Sharma, was sleeping in his house when the accused shot at him in the wee hours, police spokesperson said.
The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, the spokesperson said, adding, family of the deceased has lodged a case against the unidentified accused.
According to preliminary investigation, the accused is suspected to be close to him. However, the family has denied his enmity with anyone, police said.

Some suspected persons have been taken into custody and investigation is on.
