The development came a day after WBPCC threatened to pull out of the Mamata Banerjee government protesting the Trinamool Congress chief's rejection of Pranab Mukherjee as the likely presidential candidate.

"We met during the day and adopted four resolutions, including one condemning the role of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in rejecting the name of Pranab Mukherjee as probable UPA candidate for presidential election," CLP leader Md Sohrab told reporters here.

Sohrab said "even after Pranab Mukherjee's name came to the fore as probable UPA candidate, Mamata Banerjee, being a leader of Trinamool Congress, a partner of UPA, took a role which is condemnable and unethical.

"Congress is feeling uncomfortable to remain in the state government," Sohrab said a day after WBPCC president Pradip Bhattacharya threatened to pull out of the Mamata Banerjee government protesting her 'condemnable role' on the Pranab Mukherjee issue.

A copy of the resolution was sent to party chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, he said.

He said that the CLP members urged the high command to immediately announce the name of Pranab Mukherjee as UPA's presidential candidate.

Stating that the CLP also sought to know what role the Congress should play in the assembly in the present situation being a partner of the state government, he said "we want to allow our members in the Assembly to directly criticise main partner Trinamool Congress and any defects of the state government."

The CLP leader said "from now our members will formally lodge protest inside the House against the state government when they find it fit."

WBPCC president Pradip Bhattacharya attended the meeting by virtue of being an ex-officio member.
