Tuki, was addressing a high-level team from the department of environment and forest headed by Arunachal Pradesh State Medicinal Plant Board chairman Bamang Felix here yesterday, official sources informed today.
The team is slated to participate in a 10-day Conference of Parties (CoP) to be held at Hyderabad during October 8 next.
Tuki, after giving a patient hearing to the presentation by the team advocated for a scientific approach in highlighting the rich biodiversity of this Himalayan state.
The chief minister also advocated for scientific farming giving special emphasis in involving local scientists besides engaging the community, the first stake holder, so that the local people are engaged in scientific conservation, cultivation and commercial production of medicinal plants while conserving the biodiversity.
"Arunachal Pradesh has a pivotal role to play with its vast medicinal plant resources whose global demand has been rising across the world," he pointed out.
Funded by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), representatives of 161 countries from across the globe are expected to take part in the CoP. More
