Rejecting the "political vendetta" charge, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today defended his government's decision to move the Supreme Court against the acquittal of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa in corruption cases.
Maintaining that the move was not part of political vendetta, he said discussions would be held with legal experts before proceeding on this matter.
"No one is above the law," the Chief Minister said.
The government's decision came within two weeks after Yeddyurappa was made the state BJP chief for a fourth time after the High Court cleared him in 15 charges relating to denotification of land allegedly in violation of rules during his term as Chief Minister.
The state BJP unit has slammed the decision as political vendetta.
About the High Court observation that the stategovernment could not handle the situation during the protestby garment workers in Bengaluru, he said the police had usedminimum force as the two-lakh crowd comprised mostly women.
The government had handled the situation pretty well, he said.
In a sudden eruption of violence, garment workers went on the rampage on Tuesday during protest against amended Provident Fund rules, which were later rolled back, leaving 25 policemen and scores of others injured, besides damaging private and public property.
