"It has been more than three months since the tragic event took place and IOC has not given any assistance other than Rs one crore. The state government will take stern action if IOC continues with their defiant stand on this issue," he told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.
Chandy said government had so far adopted a concrete plan to provide relief for loss of property. They had urged IOC to meet compensation to persons and families to which they had only responded by giving just Rs one crore, he said.
Twenty people were killed and 35 injured when the tanker overturned and exploded after hitting a road divider at Chala near here on August 27. Forty five houses, 40 shops and 11 vehicles were gutted in the resulting fire.
On other decisions, Chandy said of the total of 101 sports quota recruitments, 23 had not been given a post, for which 23 supernumerary posts would be created in eight departments.
Government has given the go ahead to renew salaries and wages of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
He said talks would be held with Kerala Public Service Commission to solve the longstanding problem of employees who were to be given jobs in KSRTC's coach building unit.They were not given jobs in the corporation due to changes in technology which resulted in them remaining unemployed, he said.
Taking into account the Centre's order on functioning of quarries, stipulating five hectares as minimum, government has decided to allow legally functioning quarries in Kerala on a temporary basis for one year, he added.
