CM lays foundation for Rs 8.5 crore drinking water supply
Press Trust of India Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy toay said the PWD here would relieve the residents of various housing colonies soon of their difficulty in getting assured and protected drinking water by launching massive water supply projects funded by statutory bodies.
Laying the foundation of Rs 8.5 crore augmented drinking water suipply scheme in neighbouring Reddiarpalayam Assembly constituency today he said that PWD would construct a overhead tank to store 12 lakh litre of water in addition to a sump which would store eight litre water in Ellaipillaichavady so that the residents of various housing colonies in the vicinity of the tank would get in the next six months assured water supply.
Rangasamy who later laid foundation of a Rs 11,77 crore road development work on the National Highways linking Ellaipillaichavady with Ariyur a border village of Villupuram district of Tamilnadu said that the funds for road development was provided by Union Highways and Surface Transport Ministry. The total distance between the two points is around 14 kms.
