BJP leader P K Dhumal's son Arun Singh today asked Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to come clean on the controversy over his family having acquired shares in a private company, saying it is not listed in any stock exchange of the country.
In a statement here, Arun accused the Chief Minister of misleading the people over his wife Pratibha, son Vikramaditya, and daughter Aprajita acquiring shares in Tarini Infrastructure Ltd.
"The Chief Minister must come clean as to when these shares were purchased and through which stock exchange as has been claimed by him. Was this a preferential allotment in lieu of preferential treated meted out to the promoter by his government?" he asked, adding that the shares of an unlisted company can only be bought with the consent and wishes of the promoters unlike buying from stock exchange wherein promoters' consent is not required.
The Chief Minister needs to clear the air in this regard as it is perhaps the only case wherein the promoter is lending money for purchase of substantial stake in his own company, Arun said.
"Why this information was not disclosed in the election affidavits filed by Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh (former MP)?" he asked.
