Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today inaugurated multiple building complexes at the Cluster University here, hoping the infrastructure development would give academic activities at the varsity a new push.

The state government had carved out two cluster universities, one each at Srinagar and Jammu, in 2016 to further strengthen the higher education.

Mufti inaugurated two buildings of school of sciences, school of teacher education, school of humanities and liberal arts and school of engineering.

An official spokesman said the chief minister, who is also the Chancellor of the University, hoped that the new complexes would give the academic activities at the varsity a new push.

The spokesman said since its inception, the university, besides the routine academic activities, is running eight integrated honours courses while four more will be introduced this year.

Among these, the two are being offered for the first time by any university in the state, he said.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof Anju Bhasin said the curriculum adopted by the university matches the best in the country like Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University.
