"The Chief Minister has ordered a Crime Branch (CB) inquiry into the incident," a CMO official said.
Soon after the CM's direction, the Crime Branch of the state police formed a team for conducting the inquiry into the incident that took place at Nagara village, a senior crime branch official said.
The move came after the bodies of Dinabandhu Mallick (65), a retired district inspector (DI) of schools, his wife Nirmala and daughters Saswati (13) and Pranati (7) were found in a pool of blood inside their residence last evening.
The bodies were found on the ground floor of the two- storey building, said Pradhan.
Agitated over the incident, the villagers had detained the bodies, but allowed them to be taken for post-mortem after Crime Branch probe was ordered.
"A Crime Branch team is expected to reach the village shortly. Investigation will be conducted by examining all possible angles," said a CB official.
