Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today directed the Director General of Police (DGP) here to submit a report on assaults on journalists in the state.
The directives were issued after a group of scribes apprised Chouhan about the recent attack on a local journalist Manoj Verma.
Chouhan also asked DGP Surendra Singh to submit a report on the attack on Verma and ensure that those behind the assault will be nabbed soon.
He also directed Commissioner, Public Relations, S K Mishra to ensure that Verma gets proper treatment. He said entire treatment cost will be borne by the state government.
Verma, who works with a local daily, was assaulted by four persons on March 22 near Subhash Nagar railway crossing here, causing grievous injuries to him.
In the attack, Verma sustained fracture in both hands and serious wounds on his head.
He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
