Taking a serious view of screening of liquor advertisements on LED screens installed at the heritage street on way to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today ordered an inquiry into the case.
He said it was an "unfortunate and derogatory incident" which has hurt the religious sentiments of devotees.
Disclosing this here, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said the Additional Deputy Commissioner has been asked to submit the report within a week.
Amarinder categorically said that none would be allowed to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state and would be dealt severely as per the law of land, if found guilty.
He said the government would maintain the sanctity of holy places at all costs.
