CM performs 'bhumi-pujan' of colony for surrendered Naxals

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today performed bhumi-pujan (ground-breaking) for the proposed 'Navjeevan Nagar', a colony for the surrendered Naxals, in Gadchiroli district.
He also inaugurated Burgi police station in the Naxal-affected district.
Navjeevan Nagar, spread over 5.53 hectares, will have 174 plots.
The Chief Minister also announced that aid of Rs 23 crore, announced for the families of policemen who were killed in the line of duty between 1988 to 2009, would be released promptly.
It would benefit as many as 102 families, with minimum help of Rs 22.50 lakh each, he said.
Fadnavis also rewarded five jawans who got gallantry awards and five others with accelerated promotions.
He also distributed land and cheques of financial assistance to five surrendered Naxals.
