CM Rawat seeks immediate fund allocation from Centre

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has sought immediate allocation of nearlyRs 1,119 crore from the Centre for the implementation of road construction projects in the state.
Holding inadequate allocation of funds responsible for the delay in completion of the projects, Rawat made the demand at a meeting with Union Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Virendra Singh yesterday, an official release here said.
The Centre has so far cleared 1,125 PMGSY projects worth Rs 2,010.24 crorefor Uttarakhand, out of which 623 projects were completed by March this year and work is underway on 493, it said.
Most of these projects have either exceeded the time frame set for their implementation or nearingthe deadline.
Rawat told Singh that the projects are being delayed because of inadequate allocation of fundsby the Centre and requested the Union Minister to immediately release Rs 1,118.64 crore on a priority basis, it said.
He also sought an increase in the annual allocation for link roads in Uttarakhand from Rs 288 to Rs 550 crore.
Rawat urged the Union Minister to release Rs 60.61 crore for PMGSY projects in Uttarakhand, which were sanctioned earlier by the Centre, it added.
