Gogoi has formally released Assamese film "Baandhon" (Waves of silence) directed by internationally acclaimed director Jahnu Barua.
Speaking on the eve of the premier last night, the chief minister hoped that the film will not only be able to attract the cine-goers but also earn rave reviews from critics.
The chief minister further hoped that the film will be able to turn the wheels of fortune of the ailing Assamese film industry, which is going through a difficult phase due to financial crunch.
"The state government has to step in to revive the film industry and the cine goers must help in a big way by keeping the cash registers tinkling", the chief minister said.
Gogoi was also optimistic that the film "Bandhon", starring eminent actor Bishnu Khargoria, will spread the message of love, amity and unity among all sections of the people.
