Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was occupied with campaigning for nearly two months, Wednesday took up review of the multipurpose Polavaram project and drinking water supply situation in the state.

Elections to the Assembly and Lok Sabha were held in the state on April 11 and results would be out on May 23.

He said in the US, the president continues to hold office for some time even after elections.

"I took oath on June 8 (2014), so my government has time till then.Except for taking new policy decisions, I can continue to run the administration," the Chief Minister said at a press conference.

He said works on the construction of Polavaram had slowed down in the last 45 days, though 69 per cent of the overall project has been completed.

He said water from the project would be supplied through gravity from July.

"This is the dream project of five crore Andhra people. We will step up the works in the next two months.

We will get additional machinery and mobilise other resources to complete the works expeditiously," the Chief Minister added.

Naidu said the Centre has to reimburse Rs 4,508 crore to the State towards Polavaram works.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modis remark while campaigning that Naidu was using Polavaram like an ATM to draw money from the Centre, the Chief Minister said "This is not ATM. This is Anytime Water."
