CM tells forest corp to sell dried trees, bring rivers under

With an eye on increasing the revenue collection of Uttarakhand's Forest Development Corporation, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today directed the body to sell the fallen and dried trees and bring small rivers under the ambit of mining.
Rawat gave the instructions during a review meeting of the corporation held here yesterday, according to an official statement.
He told the corporation to formulate a work plan in this regard.
He asked officials to get the fallen and dried trees collected and sold, it said.
The Chief Minister told officials to constitute a committee in this regard, the release said.
The CM also said that the small rivers and nullahs flowing in the forests should be brought under the scope of mining, which will not only lead to revenue collection, but also ensure cleaning of forests and check soil erosion.
