The UP government has drawn flak from several quarters over recent cases of crimes against women in the state, including the murder of one 30-year-old woman in Mohanlalganj area here.
Akhilesh, who was reviewing the progress of cases related to rape and harassment of women, asked the officials to pursue pending court cases effectively to ensure that the guilty get the harshest of punishments, an official statement issued here said.
Instructing that in the event of any such incidents, officials should initiate immediate action and arrest the accused. He also warned that strong action would be taken against all those found lax in their task.
Principal Secretaries of Home and Law were also present.
