CM urges for speedy completion of Kochi Metro works

Construction of the first phase of the Rs 5,181-crore Kochi Metro Rail project should be speeded up in such a way as to ensure that it becomes a reality by March next, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here today.
The direction in this regard was issued by the Chief Minister after evaluating the progress of the works with officials of Kochi Metro rail, an official statement said.
Vijayan also asked officials to submit progress reports of the works once in three months.
The meeting also decided to call for a meeting of KMRL-DMRC officials as early as possible.
KMRL Managing Director Elias George explained the project's present and future proposals.
Additional chief secretary Nalini Netto and IT secretary, M Shivshankar were also present.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by June this year.
