The chief minister would be the pro-chancellor on the Goa University and a Bill to facilitate this appointment would be tabled in the next session of the Assembly, the House was informed on Thursday.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the Bill will be brought in the next session designating the CM as pro- chancellor of the Goa University.
"This is necessary because the state government should have hold over the university to address various issues, he said.
The Governor serves as vice-chancellor of the Goa University, while there is no representation for the chief minister on the apex educational body.
Sawant said vacancies in the Goa university will have domicile certificate as a compulsory clause for C class and clerical posts.
"But in other posts, if they dont get the required manpower in Goa, then they will have to look outside Goa.
"The relaxation of domicile certificate rule would be given for posts of professor and above, he said.
