The Jammu and Kashmir government today ordered attachment of the Chief Medical Officer of Leh district for his failure to attend several review meetings concerning the health scenario in the area.
Minister for Health Shabir Ahmed Khan ordered attachment of Chief Medical officer, Leh, T Mutup with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir with immediate effect, an official spokesman said.
This direction was passed by the minister while reviewing the functioning of health institutions in Kashmir here, the spokesman said.
While taking serious note of frequent absence of the concerned CMO even after repeated communications from the government for attending various review meetings, the minister directed for action against the officer.
The absence of head of the district health services had caused great difficulty in discussing the overall health scenario of this hilly and sensitive district, the spokesman said.
Khan also directed for seeking explanations from Chief Medical Officer, Kargil and medical superintendent Sonam Norbo Hospital, Leh for alleged lapses on their part.
The minister underscored the need for bringing more reforms in the health services to infuse efficiency, transparency and above all a qualitative change in the patient care at the primary and secondary health institutions in the state.
