Co-operative bank branch gutted in fire
Press Trust of India Nagpur Fire broke out today in the branch office of Nagpur District Central Co-operative Bank (NDCC) in Gandhibagh busy business locality here in which most of the bank documents and equipment, including computers were gutted, police said.
The bank has a branch on the second floor of a building in Gandhibagh area which caught fire in the morning and five floors were affected.
Most of the bank documents and equipment, including computers, were gutted in the blaze, fire officials said.
More than 13 fire tenders from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) were pressed into action to douse the flames.
The cause of fire was yet to be ascertained, police said.
The NDCC has been in the news as its chairman and Congress MLA from Saoner, Sunil Kedar is facing criminal cases for alleged financial scam to the tune of Rs 150 crores and was slapped a penalty of Rs 129 crores by the Deputy Registrar of cooperative department, last week.
