The 42-year-old actress, who announced her split from the Coldplay frontman in March 2014, revealed the pair have gone through "difficult times" but said that their children Apple, 11, and Moses, eight are the main priority, reported E! online.
Speaking at the #BlogHer15 conference in New York City, where she gave a keynote speech, Paltrow said: "It's been hard and we've gone through really difficult times with it but we've always said these children are our priority.
"I think unfortunately, although we couldn't stay in a romantic relationship, our values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships and I'm lucky that we're aligned in that way."
"I'm very, very lucky that I have a partner who's willing to do it with me in a really collaborative way. I'm really for Chris and he's really for me and our children are our priority. What that really means is: Even if you hate me and never want to see me again, we are going to brunch. It's definitely imperfect, (but we) are really great friends (and) he's a great dad.
