'Amartya' - the vessel built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, arrived at the New Mangalore port on Sunday, Port Trust said in a release here today.
Indian Coast Guard Commander in Karnataka Rajmani Sharma, who received the vessel, said 'Amartya', the fourth vessel to be based at Mangalore, was equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and advanced communication and navigational equipment.
It could undertake close-coast missions like surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and medical evacuation.
The ship had an integrated bridge management system, machinery control system, gun mount with automated control system, two radars and closed circuit cameras to watch sailing ships, boats and activities on the shore, he added.
