A senior Coast Guard official, who contradicted the Defence Ministry's claim by saying he had ordered blowing up an intruding Pakistani boat off Porbandar coast on new year eve, today made a U-turn, claiming he was misquoted.

However, the Indian Express uploaded the video of DIG B K Loshali in which he says that he ordered on December 31 night to "blow up that boat"

"Let me tell you. I hope you remember 31st December night... We blew off that Pakistan... We have blown them off. I was there at Gandhinagar and I told at night, blow the boat off. We don't want to serve them biryani," he said at a function in Surat yesterday.

Today, as a controversy erupted over his claim, Loshali sang a different tune.

"I was not privy to whatever was happening. I have been misquoted. I had mentioned that no anti-national element will be allowed to breach our coastal security and we are not going to serve them biryani.

"The operation was classified in nature and its details were not shared (with me)," he told reporters, adding it was his boss Inspector General, North West region, Kuldip Singh Sheoran who was in charge of the operation.

Inspector General K R Nautiyal said in Delhi that that they had received a statement from Loshali who had denied making any such statement.

What he said, Loshali claimed, was that "anti-national" elements won't be served briyani and dealt with according to the law of the land.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar Wednesday said that he will enquire into the statements made by Loshali.

"I will enquire...I will go through the video," said Parrikar referring to the video.

Parrikar told reporters here that he will take a look at the controversial video and then "take action if required".

"You have to understand my position. There are 15-16 lakh service personnel, if someone makes a statement which is factually incorrect I will take action after enquiring into it."

The defence minister said "I will release evidence" of the incident.

Meanwhile, Congress today asked the Defence Minister to introspect and clarify the truth in light of the video released by Indian Express.

"Def Min what is a bigger sin blowing the Paki boat or lying to the nation? If they were indeed terrorists why be ashamed of blowing them," Congress leader Manish Tewari tweeted.

"Uncanny similarities to similar modus operandi the fake encounter syndrome to bolster machismo & build Alpha image", he tweeted.
