"We have increased vigil and patrolling activity along the west coast," an official of the Coast Guard said here today.
Security has been stepped up after the central agencies issued an alert about a terror attack being planned by Lashkar-e-Taiba founder and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed at the Red Fort and other key places in the national capital.
Though the Coast Guard official did not specify the number of vessels that would be deployed for security purpose, he said security along Gujarat and Goa coastline has been beefed up with the help of Navy.
Ten terrorists, including Ajmal Amir Kasab, who set sail from Karachi, had landed in Mumbai and orchestrated the 26/11 terror attack in November 2008 killing 166 people.
