Cochin Music Challengers (CMC),the celebrity cricket team of Malayalam playback singers, enthralled the patients at Ernakulam Government General Hospital here today by their scintillating performance at a music event organised as part of the ongoing "Arts and Medicine" project .
The project is being conducted by Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) in association with Mehboob Memorial Orchestra with an aim to provide healing and solace through art.
The CMC team, comprising playback singers Prakash Babu (captain), Pradeep Babu, Reju Joseph, Vipin Xavier, Nassar, Naseer Minnale, Baiju, Rafeeq Rahman, Yasin, Sanoop, Sujith and Sreenath, staged a performance for the hospital inmates, leaving them spellbound for the entire duration of the show.
The audience, comprising patients, bystanders, doctors and hospital staff, remained glued to their seats as the singers rendered "mera jeevan kora kagaz" from movie "Kora Kagaz", "ee kadalum maru kadalum" from the film "Kadalpalam" and "Innale Mayangumbol" from "Anweshichu Kandethiyilla".
While expressing disappointment over not being able to bring in cricketer S Sreesanth and noted playback singer Madhu Balakrishnan, the two other members of his team, Prakash assured that the duo would perform here for the patients very soon.
After the programme, the team members visited patients in the cancer ward and chatted with them.
Today's musical treat was the 24th programme in the "Arts and Medicine" series. The project is being conducted with guidance from Iva Fattorini, Chair of Global Arts and Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic and the Ernakulam district administration.
