The Justice Ranjit Singh Commission of Inquiry (CoI), constituted to look into cases of sacrilege in the state, will submit its report to the state government soon.
Justice (retired) Singh said today that its probe into the desecration incident in Bargari was almost complete.
The report will highlight the reasons and circumstances behind the incidents of sacrilege in various places and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future, the head of the commission said.
Earlier, he visited Fatehgarh Sahib railway station, where torn pages of a religious book were found earlier. He also visited village Sindhran, Ambey Majra, Chatarpura and Badesha Kalan where incidents of desecration of a holy book were reported.
He talked in detail with village panchayats, members of Gurudwara Committees and prominent citizens. He also collected details about the inquiry conducted by police.
Rejecting as "inconclusive" the report of the Zora Singh Commission, the Congress government, which came to power in March this year, had a month later constituted a fresh Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (retired) Ranjit Singh to investigate all cases of sacrilege in the state.
