Coimbatore surgeon elected secretary

A surgeon in a city hospital has been elected as Secretary of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) for a period of two years.
Dr P Senthilnathan, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and Liver and Pancreatic surgeon in Gem Hospital and Research Centre, assumed the charge as secretary at AMASI's annual conference held at Dubai recently.
AMASI was founded in 2003 and has a membership of 6000 full time members and conducts various academic activities including conferences, surgical workshops and skill courses for the surgeons across India, a hospital release said today.
Senthilnathan, the first surgeon to be elected to the post from Tamil Nadu, will hold office till 2016 end, it said.
He has contributed immensely to the development of laparoscopic surgery in India and has published more than 35 research articles in various international journals, the release said.
