Coins & currency worth Rs 50,000 stolen from temple; 1 held

: Coins and currency totally worth Rs 50,000 were stolen from three hundis of the Choleeshwar temple on the banks of the river Cauvery here and one person arrested in this connection today , police said.
They said a police patrol spotted a man crossing an area near the river with a small bundle early this morning. On seeing them, he started running. They chased him and a check of the bundle revealed the coins and cash.
On being questioned, he reportedly confessed to having committed the burglary by scaling over the compound wall, breaking open the three hundis and taking the coins and cash.
Police said they are ascertaining if he is involved in any other theft cases.
