Wintry conditions prevailed in the national capital today with minimum temperature settling at 8.4 degrees Celsius, even as the MeT department predicted deteriorating weather condition in mid-week with thunderstorm and rain likely to occur on Republic Day.
The minimum temperature settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal. However, the day was warm as the maximum temperature was recorded three notches above the normal at 23.8 degrees Celsius, said a MeT official.
Shallow fog in the morning reduced visibility in the national capital. It was 1,000 metres at 5.30 am and dipped to 600 metres at 8.30 in the morning.
Thirty-five trains were delayed, while 14 others bound for Delhi were rescheduled due to fog in northern states, said a Railway spokesperson.
Relative humidity oscillated between 100 per cent and 61 per cent.
According to a forecast, tomorrow will partly cloudy with minimum and maximum temperatures expected to hover around 8 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius.
The weather is likely to deteriorate around mid-week with rain likely to occur on the eve of Republic Day. Thunderstorm with rain is forecast to occur on Republic Day, said the MeT official.
