After a brief respite, cold wave conditions intensified across Odisha Saturday with state capital Bhubaneswar experiencing its coldest day of the season at 9.5 degree celsius.
With biting cold sweeping across Odisha, the mercury dipped below 10 degree celsius at 17 places, the meteorological centre here said.
The tourist destination of Daringibadi in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of 6 degree Celsius, it said.
The temperature, which stood at 15.4 degree celsius here Friday, plummeted to 9.5 degree today, the lowest for in the city this winter, it said.
On December 24 the capital city had recorded a minimum of 9.9 degree celsius.
In neighbouring Cuttack city, the mercury plunged to 9.4 degree celsius from 14 degree recorded on Friday, it said.

The minimum temperature touched 6.6 degree celsius at Angul while it was 6.9 degree at Keonjhar, 7 degrees at Phulbani, Sundargarh and Sonepur, 7.7 degree at Jharsuguda, 8.1 degree at Sambalpur, 8.5 degree at Balangir, Balasore and Baripada, 8.6 degree in Koraput, 9.3 degree at Hirakud and Talcher and 9.5 degree celsius at Bhawanipatna, it said.
The weatherman said that cold wave conditions are likely to prevail for the next few days.
The night temperature is likely to fall below normal by 3 to 4 degree celsius during the next three to four days in the state, the met centre said.
