Cold wave continues, 67 north-bound trains delayed

Cold and foggy conditions continued to prevail in north India today which led to delay in services of 67 north-bound trains.
In the national capital, foggy conditions were witnessed during morning hours which led to delay in services of 67 north-bound trains even as sun shone bright throughout the rest of the day.
Flight operations, however, were normal, according to the official website of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.9 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, said a MeT department official.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Valley and its plains received overnight snow and rains that provided much-needed relief from the intense cold as the mercury rose due to cloud cover.
Srinagar registered a minimum temperature of minus 0.1 degrees Celsius.

Leh, in the frontier region of Ladakh, continued to remain the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 7.7 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab and Haryana, cold conditions continued in most parts of both the states.
Hisar was coldest place in the plains of Punjab and Haryana with a low of 7.1 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said here.
While the minimum at Ludhiana was 8.3 degrees Celsius, Chandigarh settled at a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius.
Besides, many parts of the region were covered by thick fog in the morning adversely affecting air, rail and road traffic.
In Rajasthan, the temperature continued to affect normal life along with rail and road transport across the state.
According to MeT department officials, lowest minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius was recorded at state's hill station Mount Abu.
Meanwhile, departure of Ajmer-Sealdaah Express under the North-West region was changed due to poor weather condition.
Railways spokesperson said that 22 trains are running late ranging from 1 hour to 21 hours. Among the delayed train include Hawrah-Sriganganagar by 21 hours, Sealdaah-Ajmer by 18 hours 25 minutes, Hawrah-Jodhpur-Bikaner by 14 hours 50 minutes, New Jalpaigudi-Udaipur by 14 hours 20 minutes, Kanpur-Bhiwani by 11 hours 15 minutes.
Himachal Pradesh's higher reaches in tribal areas and other higher hills are experiencing intermittent light snowfall since last night.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti recorded 6 cm of snow while the Rohtang pass had 10 cm of snow till this morning.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district, Kothi, Pin valley and other high mountain passes are having an another spell of snowfall, breaking the prolongeddry spell.
Bharmaur and Manali received 5 mm and 3 mm of rains respectively while Saluni in Chamba district witnessed 2 mm of rain.
In Uttar Pradesh, weather remained dry and fog was witnessed in most parts in the past 24 hours.
MeT office here said that moderate to dense fog occurred at most places and very dense fog at isolated places over the state.
Chandigarh recorded a low of 11.8 degrees Celsius, five
notches above normal, while Ambala in Haryana registered a low of 10.9 degrees Celsius.
Hisar recorded a low of 11.8 degrees Celsius, up four degrees while Karnal's low settled at 8.2 degrees Celsius, up by one notch.
The minimum at Amritsar in Punjab settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. Ludhiana recorded a low of 9.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
Night temperatures have increased in parts of Rajasthan, with Sriganganagar recording a low of 10.5 degrees Celsius. Night temperatures hovered between 11 and 16 degrees Celsius in other areas.
The weather remained clear and dry in the state but the MeT department has predicted light rains at isolated pockets in the state till tomorrow.
Bright sunshine relented cold conditions in Patna and other parts of the Bihar, with the state capital registering a low of 10.1 degrees Celsius, the state Met office said.
In the temple town of Gaya there was no variation in minimum and maximum temperatures which remained at 8.7 degrees Celsius and 24.7 degrees Celsius respectively.
