Cold wave continues unabated in HP

The local MeT office has warned of heavy rain and snowfall at few places in Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu, Kangra, Kinnaur and Shimla districts and thundershowers and heavy rains in isolated places in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur districts on January 17 and 18.

The minimum temperature stayed at -0.4 degree Celsius at Manali while it dropped to 2 degrees at Shimla, Solan and Mandi. Sundernagar and Mandi recorded 3 degrees, while Una registered a low of 4.7 degrees and Nahan 7.1 degrees.

However, night temperature rose to 9.4 degree at Dharamsala, 3.5 degree above normal, while Keylong and Kalpa in tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur recorded a low of -5.1 degrees and -3.2 degrees, three degrees above normal.

Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 23 degrees while Sundernagar and Nahan recorded a high of 20.6 degrees and 20 degree respectively, followed by Bhuntar 19.2 degrees, Solan 19 degrees, Dharamshala 16.8 degrees, Shimla 14.9 degrees and Kalpa 9.2 degrees.
