Cold wave continues unabated in Punjab, Haryana

The minimum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between one to two notches below normal, the MeT office said here.

Foggy morning and misty conditions at several places, including Ambala, Hisar, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Patiala also affected normal life, officials said here.

In the twin agrarian states, Amritsar was the coldest at 2.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

While Narnaul recorded a low of 5.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, the minimum temperature at Bhiwani was 5.4 degrees Celsius.

Among other places in the region, Hisar braved a low of 5.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, followed by 6.4 degrees Celsius at Karnal, two notches below normal.

Ludhiana recorded a low of seven degrees Celsius, one notch below normal and Patiala had a minimum of 7.5 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh had a low of eight degrees Celsius whereas Amabla settled at a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius.

The sun continued to play hide and seek at several places in the region where cold wave continued unabated.

The MeT forecast partly cloudy sky with possibility of rise in minimum temperatures in the region during the next two days.
