Cold wave persists in most parts of Himachal Pradesh

Intense cold wave conditions persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh, even as the minimum and maximum temperatures rose marginally.
Mercury rose to 26.2 degrees Celsius in Una in Siwalik foot hills, while Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district recorded minimum temperature at minus 6.1 degrees Celsius, 3.9 degrees Celsius above normal.
Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district and Manali recorded a low of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius and minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 1.4 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 2.4 degrees Celsius and Solan 3.4 degrees Celsius.
Una and Shimla recorded minimum temperatures at 5.2 degrees Celsius and 5.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Palampur 6.5 degrees Celsius, Nahan 7.1 degrees Celsius and Dharamsala 7.6 degrees Celsius.
Barring Una, where day temperature rose by 1.7 degrees Celsius to stay at 26.2 degrees Celsius, the maximum day temperatures stayed close to normal and Sundernagar and Solan recorded minimum temperatures at 22.4 degrees Celsius and 21.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 20.8 degrees Celsius, Palampur and Nahan 18.8 degrees Celsius, Shimla 17.5 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 16.8 degrees Celsius.
Dry spell is continuing for the past six weeks and the local Meteorological office has forecast dry weather in the state over the next four days and rains, thundershowers or snow at isolated places in lower, mid and higher hills from January 23 onwards.
