Cold wave prevails in Pb, Har

Cold wave conditions continued to prevail in Punjab and Haryana today while thick fog engulfed many places in the region affecting rail, air services.
According to the MeT here, fog reduced visibility at many places in Punjab and Haryana early today.
At least five flights of private carriers to Delhi were delayed, officials said.
Rail traffic also took a hit with many trains running late or delayed by hours.
The Shatabdi Express train from New Delhi to Kalka via Chandigarh, which was to leave the national capital at 7:40 AM today, had been rescheduled to leave after a delay of about four-and-a-half hours due to fog at the originating station.
Among other trains, Lucknow Chandigarh Sadbhavna Express was delayed by over four hours while Allahabad-Chandigarh Unchahar Express was delayed by over nine hours.

Amritsar recorded a low 2.2 degree Celsius, a degree below normal and was the coldest place in the two states, the MeT department said.
Patiala also witnessed a cold night at 7.4 degrees. However, Ludhiana's minimum settled within the normal range at 8.3 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperatures in Hisar and Narnaul in Haryana were recorded at 4.5 and 4.6 degree Celsius, both below normal.
Karnal's low settled at 6.8 degree Celsius while Ambala recorded a low at 8.5 degrees.
Chandigarh's low settled at 10.2 degree Celsius, four notches above normal. However, the residents here woke up to overcast conditions this morning.
The MeT has forecast possibility of rain or thunder showers at few places in Punjab and Haryana tomorrow.
