Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest in the region with minimum temperatures staying below freezing point at minus 1.0 degree Celsius while key tourist resort of Manali and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recording a low of 1.8 degree Celsius, three degree below normal.
Bhuntar, Sundernagar and Solan recorded minimum temperatures dipping to 3.1 degree, 4.1 degree and 4.5 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.
The state capital Shimla recorded a low of 5.6 deg C and maximum temperature at 15.6 degree C, a drop of three degrees since yesterday as sky remained heavily overcast and Nahan and Una in shivalik foothills groaned under biting cold wave condition with minimum temperature staying three degree below normal.
Una was hottest in the region even as maximum temperature dropped by few notches to stay at 26.8 degree Celsius while Solan recorded a high of 22.2 degree Celsius, followed by Bhuntar and Sundernagar 22.2 degree, Dharamsala 21.6 degree, Nahan 20.8 degree and Kalpa 11.7 degree Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted snowfall in higher hills as western disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir has moved away eastwards and a fresh western disturbance lies over north Pakistan and neighbourhood.
