The cold weather persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday and a thick blanket of fog reduced visibility in the morning, affecting normal life.
In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest place with a bone-chilling minimum temperature of 3.4 deg C.
Ludhiana (7.1 deg C), Patiala (7.6 deg C), Adampur (6.9 deg C), Halwara (4.7 deg C), Bathinda (5.4 deg C), Faridkot (6 deg C) and Gurdaspur (7.3 deg C) also registered below normal minimum temperatures, a meteorological department official said.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum of 6.9 deg C, Hisar (5.5 deg C), Karnal (8 deg C), Narnaul (7.5 deg C), Rohtak (8 deg C), Bhiwani (6.1 deg C) and Sirsa (4.4 deg C) too experienced a cold night.
Chandigarh registered a night temperature of 7.6 deg C.
The official said that thick blanket of fog reduced visibility in the morning at most places in Punjab and Haryana.
