The director would, however, be involved with the film in other capacity, reported Aceshowbiz.
At the Paris, France world premiere of "Jurassic World", the third instalment in the popular "Jurassic Park" franchise, he confirmed the news.
"'Jurassic Park' is like 'Star Wars'. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director," Trevorrow said.
"Jurassic World" is set 22 years after the first film, 1993's "Jurassic Park".
Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
"Jurassic World" will open in 3D, 2D and IMAX theatres on June 12 in the US. It stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Ty Simpkins, Judy Greer, Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and Omar Sy.
