Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) V S Sampath today asked officials in poll-bound Rajasthan to collect details of alleged provocative and communal speeches by politicians to determine suitable action against them.
"There are complaints about provocative and communal speeches by top leaders. We are gathering factual details and background for future action," Sampath told reporters here.
Representatives of political parties in a meeting gave various suggestions as well as certain complaints of provocative speeches by top leaders, he said.
The CEC, however, refrained from disclosing the name of such leaders and said the complaints were against some specific speeches.
Sampath held meetings with representatives of political parties yesterday and discussed poll preparedness with District Collectors, SPs and senior officers today.
"Party leaders gave valuable suggestions and expressed concerns over activities like intimidation of voters, bogus voting, use of money and distribution of liquor among others. We have assured them that all possible measures will be taken to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections," he said.
