Two men including a collection agent have been arrested here for allegedly selling off seized two-wheelers of defaulting buyers instead of returning them to the dealer.
Deepak Rawat (37), the collection agent, and his accomplice Mohamamd Azgar Sattar Khan (28) were arrested Tuesday.
A case under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 408 (criminal breach of trust) was registered against them, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Subash Burse.
According to the complaint filed by the owner of a two-wheeler showroom here, Rawat's job was to visit the buyers who had defaulted on loan installments, and seize the vehicle and its Registration Certificate (RC) book.
However, instead of bringing the seized vehicle back, he allegedly sold them off.
The accused are alleged to have sold off vehicles worth Rs 6.25 lakh in this way, the DCP said.

When some of the new buyers approached the showroom as they had not received the RC book, the scam came to light, he said.
These buyers would not be made accused as they were not aware of the fraud, the police officer said.
In a separate case, city police arrested Sailesh alias Sujit Shah (32) from Umbargaon in Gujarat and allegedly seized five stolen two-wheelersvalued at Rs 2.60 lakh from him.
Assistant Commissioner Neeta Padavi said there had been a rise in vehicle thefts and the police finally zeroed in on Shah who stayed in Charai area here.
