College boy stabs female classmate, attempts suicide

A male student allegedly stabbed his female classmate and then tried to kill himself at a junior college in Sonabeel in Assam's Sonitpur district today, the police said.
The higher secondary 2nd year student stabbed the girl in the throat with a knife during lunch break and then tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach.
Both the students were taken to Kanaklata Civil Hospital here in a critical condition, sources said.
The cause of the attack was not immediately known, they said.
The students of St Xavier's Junior College hailed from the same village, Sengelimari, under Chariduar police station.
